·      Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent

·      Minimum age of 18 years

·      Completion of Year 10 or equivalent, or relevant work experience in the health sector

·      Basic computer skills for online learning components

Fee Range: $0 - $7,300 per student (call for pricing)

 

NSW Smart and Skilled - Subsidised Training and Fee Exemptions:

·            Concession: $160

·            Subsidised: $830 (first qualification)

Study Resources

To succeed in this course, you'll need to have access to a computer with a high-speed internet connection. But don't worry about software; we’ve got you covered! You'll be issued an Office 365 student account with all the necessary software to ace your studies.

As a student, you'll have access to a wealth of resources to aid your studies. In addition to study booklets, you'll also have access to a vast array of online library databases to assist with any research or additional study needs. With these valuable resources at your fingertips, you'll be equipped to tackle any academic challenge that comes your way.

Note: For students in remote locations without consistent access to high-speed internet, alternative arrangements can be made to submit assessments. Please ensure you advise the administration team.

 

Intensive (Residential) Study

The Intensive (Residential) Study component is a crucial part of this course, requiring students to attend on-site training blocks.

 

Away From Base (AFB) Eligibility

The Away From Base (AFB) allowance is designed to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who need to travel away from their homes to undertake their studies. Eligible students can receive support for:

·      Travel costs to and from the training location

·      Accommodation expenses while attending training

·      Meals and incidentals during their stay

To be eligible for AFB support, you must:

·      Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent

·      Be enrolled in an approved course (like the Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care)

·      Reside in a location where you need to travel and stay away from home to attend classes

 

Important:

·      Students must apply to Services Australia for ABSTUDY - Incidental Allowance to help with additional study/work placement resources, equipment, and access to learning.  ABSTUDY Incidental Allowance 

·      Away From Base students must have a Centrelink Customer Reference Number (CRN) prior to the first Intensive (Residential) Block.

·      Students can only participate in one AFB program in a calendar year.

 

Note: If students are a registered Trainee in NSW, they are not eligible for AFB and will need to work with their employer around funding their attendance at Intensive (Residential) Blocks. Study Requirements

This course requires a commitment to both self-paced study hours and attendance at intensive (residential) blocks. You must manage your time effectively to complete the self-paced components and participate in the intensive training sessions.
